Abstract

Introduction. The intensification of information warfare in the modern world requires an in-depth study and systematization of the achievements and miscalculations of Soviet theory and propaganda practice in order to adopt and rethink the positive experience gained. In this regard, the forms and methods of propaganda among the population are of particular interest, especially in difficult historical periods, when workers on the “ideological front” were entrusted with tasks on a national scale.

Materials and methods. The research materials were documents from the Central State Archives of the Republic of Dagestan for 1966 and 1970, when two devastating earthquakes occurred in the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The main research methods were problem-chronological, comparative and systemic, based on the principles of science and historicism.

Results and discussion. The authorities of the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic launched active propaganda work among the population of villages and cities affected by the earthquakes of April 20, 1966 and May 14, 1970. The resolutions of the Dagestan Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) on liquidation of the consequences of the earthquake outlined a number of tasks facing the propaganda and agitation department Dagestan regional committee of the CPSU, district committees of the CPSU, district executive committees of districts and cities destroyed by the elements. Using various forms and methods, lecturers and propagandists of the Dagestan organization of the Knowledge Society, the regional committee and district committees of the Komsomol through republican periodicals, radio and television, during the liquidation of the consequences of the natural disaster, carried out propaganda work.
