Revisiting of Linguistic and Visual-Expressive Means of Moksha Folk Songs

Letkina N. V., Polyakov O. E.

Abstract

Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the rich song material of the Mordovian people in order to identify its linguistic and visual-expressive means.

Materials and methods. The main sources of the study were Moksha folk songs, collected since the beginning of the XVIII century by foreign and domestic folklorists, as well as employees of the Research Institute of Language, Literature, History and Economics by the Council of Ministers of the Mordovian ASSR (currently the Research Institute of the Humanities by the Government of the Republic of Mordovia). Descriptive, structural and comparative-collation research methods made it possible to analyze their linguistic and visual-expressive means.

Results and discussion. The poetic talent of the Mordovian people manifested itself in its ability to create literary works with a depth of social content and perfection of artistic form. No matter what the people sing about, they invariably create songs in which the linguistic and visual-expressive means of artistic expression convey their content in the best way.

Conclusion. The materials of the study indicate that Moksha folk songs really have characteristic features that contribute to the creation of clarity, accuracy and expressiveness of speech.

Keywords: Moksha folk song, linguistic and visual-expressive means, artistic form
