Abstraсt

Introduction. The purpose of this article is to analyze the current state of social service of religious organizations in Udmurtia through the study of specific forms of practical service among Orthodox Christians, Protestants and Sunni Muslims. By such forms we mean the organization of material, humanitarian, psychological and pedagogical assistance and patronage support for needy groups of the population.

Materials and methods. The object of the study is the religious organizations of the republic, the active beginning of which coincided with the political, economic and social transformations that took place in the 80s of the 20th century in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia.

Results and discussion. Today, the priority areas of activity of religious organizations in Udmurtia are: preservation and development of traditional religious spiritual and moral values, educational and charitable activities. This article is the first to attempt to comprehend the social service of representatives of religious cultures not in the light of spiritual practices, but by highlighting specific forms of humanitarian activity within the framework of socially significant projects. The results of the study may be useful to representatives of regional authorities in building a constructive dialogue with representatives of religious organizations and national-cultural associations of the Udmurt Republic.

Conclusion. Volunteering is becoming a promising area of modern social service of religious associations, helping to increase the activity of spiritual practices when they are continued in humanitarian assistance to the population. In the modern system of relations between society and religious communities, there is a transition from a confession-oriented system of assistance to serving everyone in need, regardless of their beliefs.
