Lazareva L. N.

Abstraсt

Introduction. The 100th anniversary of Leninʼs death has become a catalyst for discussions in the scientific community about the assessments of both the activities of this key politician of the 20th century and the significance of his theoretical legacy. In this context, given the importance of the problem for reflecting on the experience of national catch-up modernization, it seems important to compare Leninʼs strategy with the ideas of the countryʼs development by the party leaders at the stage of late “Stalinism”. The researcher gets the opportunity to answer an urgent question in modern historiography: was the program of building the worldʼs first socialist state “perverted” by the followers of V. I. Lenin on the imperious Olympus.

Materials and methods. The materials for the analysis were the works of V. I. Lenin, I. V. Stalin, and their closest associates on the strategy of the modernization breakthrough, as well as the texts of the working groups and the final version of the draft program of the CPSU(b) in 1947. The research methodology was based on the principles of objectivity and historicism, such special research methods as historical-genetic, chronological, comparative, etc. are used.

Results and discussion. Based on the comparative analysis, we came to the conclusion that the features of the “Stalinist” stage of modernization in many ways became the embodiment and natural outcome of Leninʼs strategy.

Conclusion. The prospects of the research are related to the deepening of the analysis of Leninʼs theoretical heritage in the context of subjective and objective factors that shaped the track of the countryʼs development in the 20th century.
