The Motive-shaped Cluster “Seasons” in Erzya Womenʼs Lyrics
Sheyanova S. V.
Abstract
Introduction. In Russian literary criticism, the issues of natural imagery, landscape code as the metaphorical dominant of poetic speech, the key symbolic component of the text, the implication of the lyrical heroʼs worldview, the manifestation of the authorʼs motivational and thematic preferences are considered relevant. Of particular importance is the study of a separate segment of natural figurative expressiveness — “the seasons”, the aesthetic principles of the cluster implementation in the works of Erzya poetesses, since the images of the seasons in them differ in the ability not only to visualize spatial and temporal modes, convey a variety of emotional and semantic dominants, associations, but also reflect the psychological contexts of the subjective picture of the world, an individual authorʼs worldview, as well as semantic diversity, encoded by symbols. The purpose of the article is to identify the specifics of the representation of “seasonal” paintings in the poems of Erzya poetesses, to reveal their semantic functions.
Materials and methods. The research material was poems by L. Ryabova, A. Podgornova and M. Slugina. The work uses traditional methods of literary criticism (structural-semantic, historical-functional, holistic analysis of a literary text), as well as interpretative and gender approaches.
Results and discussion. The study of the motive-shaped cluster “seasons” deepens the understanding of the poetics of modern Erzya literature, expands approaches to the study of national womenʼs creativity. In the works of female authors, the traditional poetization of the seasons, the use of “seasonal” landscapes, descriptions as a means of representing the space-time continuum and the emotional state of the lyrical hero is complicated by ontological existence, visually contemplative paintings of the seasons are enriched with symbolic (archetypal) associations, existential meanings (the transience of life, the inability to turn back time, the unpredictability of human fate), receive individual semantics.
Conclusion. In Erzya womenʼs lyrics, the seasons are seen on several levels — they contribute to emotional and imaginative creative self-expression, recreate a chronotope, a certain season with typical colors, sounds, smells, correlating or contrasting with the state of the lyrical heroine, become a means of psychologization, intimatization of her dialogue with nature, the world, concentrate deep ontological meanings, existential intentions They are endowed with a variety of symbolic and associative functions, content-evaluative and emotional connotations.
