Impact of Economic Sanctions on the Development of the Automotive Industry in Russia

Abstraсt
Introduction. The changed geopolitical situation and the imposed anti-Russian sanctions create new challenges for the domestic automotive industry related to the disruption of supply chains, the shutdown of automotive production due to the withdrawal of a number of international automakers from the Russian market, exacerbating the dependence of the domestic automotive industry on foreign suppliers of components and technologies. Issues related to the study of the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the development of the Russian automotive industry, the assessment of emerging risks for the industry, which make it possible to determine the key directions of its development and adjust strategic plans, are being updated. The purpose of the article is to assess the impact of economic sanctions on the development of the Russian automotive industry, to identify problems and risks in the development of this industry.
Materials and methods. The information base of the study was the data of official statistics of The Federal Service for State Statistics (Rosstat), materials and reports of analytical agencies on the development of the automotive industry in Russia, and regulatory documents governing its development. In the course of the study, general scientific methods were used: a dialectical approach, system analysis and synthesis, formal logical analysis, as well as methods of statistical analysis.
Results and discussion. The paper analyzes the impact of the imposed restrictions and bans as a result of the “sanctions war” on the development of the automotive industry in Russia. The key problems and risks of the development of the automotive industry in Russia in the context of economic sanctions are identified, the conclusion about the need to improve state regulation of the development of the industry is made, and the importance of developing the domestic auto component industry to increase the technological independence of the automotive industry is noted.
Conclusion. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there is a need for a structure capable of ensuring the interaction of auto component manufacturers with car manufacturers, recommendations were developed that can be used by public authorities when adjusting the development strategy of the automotive industry, substantiating the appropriate tools for state regulation of the industry.
