Problem-Thematic Singularity of A. Doronin's Short Stories

Abstract

Introduction. In modern literary criticism, the research of the artistic process through the prism of genre specificity is recognized as a productive and strategically important scientific approach, since the genre is able to reflect the most stable trends in the development of literature, determine the technologies and models for the creative implementation of the individual author's concept of the world and personality — features of plot development, chronotope construction, structuring character system, the choice of an arsenal of means of figurativeness. In this regard, the study of genre processes (dialectics of a separate genre, integration relations between genres) taking place in Mordovian literature of the early ХХI century, as well as the reflection of their national artistic originality, is of particular importance, which is manifested in the creative experiments of specific authors. The article is devoted to the research of A. Doronin's short stories, characterized by thematic diversity, actualization of pressing problems of reality, reflection of the tragic worldview of a contemporary. The purpose of the article is to identify the dominant problem-thematic clusters in the writer's short prose, to determine the features of the author's world modeling.

Materials and methods. The material of the research was the short stories by A. Doronin, for the first time subjected to scientific reflection and introduced into the context of modern Finno-Ugric liкterary criticism. Through the method of holistic analysis of a literary text, the method of descriptive poetics, structural-semantic, comparative-contrastive, historical-functional methods, 20 works were analyzed.

Results and discussion. A. Doronin's creativity needs scrupulous research and scientific reflection, since it determines the problem-thematic dominant of modern Mordovian literature, the strategy of genre processes in it. The writer's short stories reflect the milestone era, the time of globalization changes, the reformatting of communication models in society, which determined a special type of consciousness of a contemporary, the tragedy of his attitude, which, in turn, led to the actualization of topics taboo in the Soviet period, filling the problems of social and everyday content with axiological, existential meaning. The author depicts the private stories of the characters, through which a generalized picture of the life of modern society is revealed.

Conclusion. As a result of the research, we come to the conclusion that in A. Doronin’s short stories, problem-thematic clusters that have been little studied in Mordovian prose are actualized: the fate of an elderly person, the history of a marginal, the Chechen war, the problem of childhood disability, the problem of suicide. The writer's appeal to this thematic content is conditioned both by external factors of the evolution of national literature, and by immanent, intra-genre trends, as well as by the individual creative concept of the author, who seeks to objectively reveal the social, spiritual and ethical problems of modernity, to trace the relationship between man and society.
