Personality and Activity of V. I. Lenin as a Subject of Scientific Study

Maslov D. V.

Abstraсt

Introduction. The purpose of the article is a brief summary of the modern discussions about the personality and activities of V. I. Lenin. The scientific problem of the article is the discrepancy between a number of approaches applied to its study and the requirements of science.

Materials and methods. The landmark biographical works about the leader of the Russian revolution are considered, giving an idea of the most controversial aspects of the historiography of the topic. The research methodology was based on the principles of objectivity and historicism, so often ignored in the coverage of Lenin's theme. When working on the topic, such special research methods as historical-genetic, chronological, comparative, etc. were used.

Results and discussion. The result of the research is not only the identification of the most “narrow” places of studying the biography of V. I. Lenin, but also proposals aimed at ensuring greater scientific objectivity in highlighting the role of his personality in Russian and world history.

Conclusion. The prospects of the research are associated with the increasingly complete inclusion of the image of V. I. Lenin in a certain historical context.
